An Ode to the Bullies Behind the GMOs

I recently wrote a little ditty in honor of GMO foods. I hope you enjoy.

GMO's Hell  by Desiree McCrorey, 24 Jun 2014
(to the tune of Jingle Bells)

1st VERSE
While shopping in our stores
Through the aisles we stride
We may pick a can or jar
But not know what's inside
You do all you can
To keep us in the dark
You bribe and bully and obfuscate
Behind those great trademarks

MAIN CHORUS
Oh! GMO, Monsanto, Nestle all the way
Oh what fun it is for you to tweak the genes and say
You don't care if we feel there's toxin in our treats
Your profit's more important than us knowing what we eat.

2nd VERSE
You say your foods are safe
But maybe they are not
You'd rather we not know the diff
Our asking is for naught
We know when we play God
It bites us in the ass
So you won't win, we'll 'tweak' you
We're tired of your crass

2ND CHORUS
Twisted corn, cream, and wheat, tomatoes and your soy
Are just a few of the foods you say we *must* enjoy
You say you're right and you don't care if we want to know
We must consider it a gift when our babies glow.

MAIN CHORUS
Oh! GMO, Monsanto, Nestle all the way
Oh what fun it is for you to tweak the genes and say
You don't care if we feel there's toxin in our treats
Your profit's more important than us knowing what we eat.

GMA's "Coalition for Safe Affordable (GMO) Food". Safe? Please!

Why the little ditty? GMA and it's Coalition

GMA's "Coalition" is battling every state in the country and battling every consumer who want to know exactly what they're eating.

These corporate mega bullies are determined not tell us if their products' genes have been artificially modified. Their intentions are "good" in that they're trying to make crops that are stronger, more resistant to disease, bugs, herbicides.

The road to hell is paved with good intentions.

Check out the bullshit they're currently spouting on their website. It demonstrates a complete contempt for consumers. They think we're confused, stupid and foolish. "Don't worry your pretty little heads. We and our partner, the FDA, will keep it simple for you."

The long term impact of monkeying with genetic codes is unknown. The ramifications of ionizing radiations, and man-made mutated cells, could be everything from awesome to disasterous, subtle to profound, appear in months to decades. No one knows.

The businesses in this Coalition for Safe Foods have no idea what their monkeying will do, but they are determined to hide the identity of these "SAFE" foods from consumers. They've told us their foods are safe simply because for that last 20 years they've experimented on us, they haven't noticed a problem that could be found that would point to the foods we've been eating. Tabacco companies pulled the same shenanigans.

Why would they so aggressively pursue keeping us in the dark? Why else? Profit$$$

If we knew which foods were GMO, some of us might not want to buy them. Some might not care. But the Coalition for Safe and Afforable Food would rather we not be able to make the choice.

How American.

If you're not happy about this bullying, seek out companies/brands that avoid selling "Frankenfoods". Beware, phrases like 'natural' and 'fresh' on packaged foods means nothing anymore. GMO corn is sold as fresh. The following sites share lists of unethical (GMO) and ethical (non-GMO) companies:
